How we protect the cold-hearted Daytona from the cold as fawn poodle breeder
During the winter months, it is crucial to make sure our four-legged friends stay warm and comfortable, especially if they are breeds that are particularly sensitive to low temperatures, such as our beloved Toy poodle, Daytona who was recently born in our fawn poodle breeding facility. Here are some strategies we employ to ensure her comfort on walks.
1. Tailored wardrobe:
As fawn poodle breeder Daytona has a selection of coats made especially for her. The materials chosen are thermal and waterproof, so as to protect her from both cold and wet weather. We prefer soft fabrics that do not irritate her delicate skin, and we opt for models with light but warm padding. In addition, each garment has a chest cover to protect her from the cold wind.
2. Paw protection:
A dog’s paws are especially vulnerable in winter, especially from contact with salt spread on roads to melt ice. For Daytona, we use non-slip soft rubber booties, which are easy to wear and perfect for keeping her paws dry and safe. We also regularly apply a protective pad cream, which is helpful in preventing cracking and irritation.
3. Reduced walking time
On particularly cold days, we prefer to reduce the time spent outdoors. Walks become shorter but frequent so that Daytona can exercise and take time to explore without risking getting cold.
4. A few extra accessories for warmth
For frostier days, we added a small natural wool sweater to her wardrobe to wear under her coat. An additional caution is to carry a warm blanket with us, in case she needs to take shelter on a break.
5. Return to warmth in our farm
Once home in our fawn poodle breeder kennel, we make sure to dry her completely with a soft towel and, if necessary, use a low temperature hair dryer. Daytona particularly appreciates this post-walk pampering, especially when she can relax by the fireplace.
Fawn poodle breeder approach on cold weather:
In our fawn poodle breeder kennel, protection from the cold is not just a matter of comfort, but an integral part of the dog’s overall well-being. The Toy Poodle, particularly in tawny shades, is a breed sensitive to temperature changes and requires targeted attention during the coldest months of the year. Therefore, we adopt daily management based on constant observation, prevention, and customized routines.
Within the kennel, environments are kept temperature-controlled, with well-insulated resting areas and thermal cushions that allow the dog to self-regulate. We always monitor behavior: postures, heat seeking, appetite and activity level are key indicators of welfare status. Feeding is also adjusted slightly during the winter period, favoring a balanced diet that supports metabolism and natural thermoregulation.
Educating future owners is part of our philosophy: a properly bred fawn poodle is a serene, balanced and resilient dog, as long as it is followed conscientiously even after entering its new family. This is how our breeding ensures continuity of quality, health and care over time.
Caring for a cold dog like Daytona requires special love and attention, but nothing is more rewarding than seeing her wagging her tail happily, warm, even on winter days. Contact our fawn poodle breeder kennel to learn more !
